It converts electrical energy (in corded drills) or chemical energy from the battery (in cordless drills) into mechanical energy to rotate the drill bit. The Handle

The handle is where you hold the drill. A good handle design is crucial for user comfort and control. Handles are often ergonomically shaped to fit the natural grip of your hand. Some handles are also padded to reduce vibration and make the drill more comfortable to use for extended periods.

In addition to the main handle, some drills have a side handle. The side handle provides additional support and control, especially when using the drill for heavy – duty tasks or when more force is required.

The Battery (for Cordless Drills)

Li – ion batteries are the most popular these days. They’re lightweight, have a high energy density, and don’t suffer from the "memory effect" like Ni – Cd batteries. Memory effect means that if a Ni – Cd battery is repeatedly recharged before it’s fully discharged, its capacity will gradually decrease.

The Depth Stop

Some drills come with a depth stop. The depth stop is a useful feature that allows you to control how deep the drill bit penetrates into the material. You can set the depth stop to a specific measurement, and when the drill reaches that depth, it will stop drilling. This is very handy for tasks like drilling holes for dowels or when you need to drill holes of a consistent depth.

The LED Light

Many modern drills are equipped with an LED light. The LED light is usually located near the chuck. It shines on the drilling area, which is especially useful when working in dark or poorly lit spaces. You can see exactly where you’re drilling and avoid mistakes.
